Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has received a third container of modern tools and equipment valued at an estimated Sh10 million to support Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) across the county.

Natembeya said the equipment was donated through a five-year partnership between the county government and Tools to Work, an organisation led by its director, Peter Peek from the Netherlands.

The governor said he signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Tools to Work three years ago with the aim of equipping Trans Nzoia’s vocational training centres with modern equipment to enhance practical skills training.

He said the latest consignment marks another milestone in fulfilling the partnership, with the donated equipment set to benefit trainees in all 32 VTCs across the county.

The equipment includes electrical tools, carpentry equipment, sewing machines, computers, bicycles and automotive toolboxes, among other items.

Natembeya said the donation will enable trainees to acquire practical and technical skills using quality equipment, helping prepare them for employment, entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

The governor thanked Peek and the entire Tools to Work fraternity for their continued partnership and support towards vocational training in Trans Nzoia.

He also called on young people in the county to take advantage of the available opportunities by enrolling in VTCs and acquiring practical skills that can help them earn a living.

According to Natembeya, the partnership will continue to deliver more equipment, with a fourth container expected to arrive next year.

The governor said strengthening vocational training remains important in providing young people with practical skills and expanding opportunities for self-employment and economic empowerment.
