University of Eldoret Professor Violet Mugalavai Dies Suddenly

 

University of Eldoret Associate Professor Violet Kadenyeka Mugalavai has died following a sudden cardiac arrest.

Prof. Mugalavai passed away on September 17, 2026, leaving behind family, colleagues, students and friends mourning her sudden death.

She was remembered as a distinguished scholar and passionate researcher in food security who dedicated much of her career to empowering women, youth and smallholder farmers.

Beyond academia, Prof. Mugalavai was described as a woman of deep faith, a devoted mother and a mentor who touched the lives of many through her kindness, resilience and commitment to uplifting others.

Her death has been met with messages of grief and condolences, with those who knew her celebrating her contribution to scholarship, research, mentorship and community empowerment.

She is survived by her children and family.
