PS Roseline Njogu Puts Kenyans at the Centre of Germany Labour Mobility Deal

Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs Roseline K. Njogu has been lauded for her role in advancing Kenya’s international labour mobility agenda, with the Kenya-Germany partnership expected to create more structured opportunities for skilled Kenyans seeking employment abroad.

Njogu has been spearheading efforts by the State Department for Diaspora Affairs to translate diplomatic engagements into practical opportunities for Kenyan professionals through strategic partnerships with foreign governments and institutions.

A key milestone is the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the State Department and German institutions to strengthen cooperation on labour mobility.

The agreement seeks to support the implementation of the Kenya-Germany Comprehensive Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement by creating a more structured framework for cooperation on skilled labour and international employment opportunities.

Speaking during a Conference and Information Day on Labour Mobility where the MoU was signed, Njogu said the agreement marked a shift from broad commitments to practical and structured implementation.

The development is seen as significant for Kenya’s growing pool of skilled professionals, particularly young people looking for legitimate opportunities to gain international experience, develop new skills and improve their economic prospects.

Under the #DiasporaFirst and #Kazimajuu agenda, the State Department has increasingly positioned labour mobility as an important component of Kenya’s diaspora and development strategy.

The Germany partnership provides an avenue for Kenya to engage more systematically with international labour markets while ensuring that mobility is orderly, mutually beneficial and anchored on the interests of Kenyan citizens.
