The road forms part of an expansive 65-kilometre transport corridor traversing Kirinyaga Central, Ndia and Mwea constituencies. The wider Mutithi–Kagio/Baricho–Getuya–Kagumo–Kiamaina–Gathuthuma–Gatwe/Kimicha–Canal/Ndaba–Kangai–Kandongu–Kangiciri–Karira Hospital–Ngurubani Mosque Road project is now 86 per cent complete, with 56 kilometres already blacktopped.

The Sh3 billion project is a major boost to the region’s transport infrastructure and demonstrates the importance of sustained investment in roads linking farms, homes, trading centres and essential services.

For Hon. Maingi, improved infrastructure is not simply about roads. It is about opening opportunities for the people of Mwea.

Better roads mean farmers can transport their produce to markets more efficiently, businesses can operate with fewer logistical challenges, patients can access health facilities more easily and residents can travel safely and conveniently.

The project also forms part of the Government’s wider plan to tarmac 500 kilometres of roads across Kirinyaga County at a cost of Sh37 billion, further positioning the county for enhanced economic activity and investment.

Hon. Maingi’s presence during the inspection of the Kangiciri–Karira Hospital–Ngurubani Mosque section and works at Karira Bridge further underlines her close attention to infrastructure projects within her constituency.
