Kenya, New Zealand Deepen Education Ties as PS Roseline Njogu Pushes Safe Youth Mobility

Kenya is seeking to strengthen education and people-to-people ties with New Zealand through partnerships that could create more structured opportunities for Kenyan youth to study and pursue professional opportunities abroad.

Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs Roseline K. Njogu held talks with a delegation of education stakeholders from New Zealand during a meeting at her office.

The delegation was led by Janet Kamau, a Kenyan diaspora member serving as Secretary General of the Africa New Zealand Business Chamber and Founder of Global Talent Pathways New Zealand.

The discussions focused on deepening cooperation between Kenya and New Zealand while exploring ways of creating safe and structured pathways for Kenyan youth seeking education and other opportunities in New Zealand.

The engagement also sought to strengthen people-to-people connections and promote greater understanding between the two countries, with education and skills mobility identified as key areas for collaboration.

The proposed partnerships are expected to help create more organised opportunities for young Kenyans while ensuring that international mobility is undertaken through safe, transparent and structured channels.

The meeting forms part of Kenya’s broader efforts to strengthen diaspora diplomacy by building partnerships that benefit Kenyans both at home and abroad.

Also present during the meeting were Anne Mruche, Deputy Director of the Skills and Expertise Division; Felix Mbuvi, Foreign Service Officer; and Velma Mudibo, Foreign Service Officer.

The engagement comes amid growing interest in international education, skills development and labour mobility, areas that Kenya continues to explore as it seeks expanded opportunities for its young population.

The talks further underscore the role of the Kenyan diaspora in strengthening economic, educational and diplomatic links between Kenya and other countries.
