Kenei Takes Boda Boda Empowerment Message to Soy as He Builds 2027 Governor Bid

Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Willy Kenei has stepped up his grassroots engagements after officials from Kipsangui Boda Boda SACCO paid him a courtesy call at his office on Monday and officially invited him to attend the SACCO’s empowerment programme in Kipsangui Farm, Soy Ward, Soy Constituency.

Speaking after the courtesy call, Kenei welcomed the engagement and underscored the important role played by SACCOs in improving the economic wellbeing of boda boda riders and other grassroots groups.

He said organised groups can help members build a culture of saving, access affordable financing, expand their businesses and create more sustainable livelihoods.

Kenei said boda boda riders remain an important part of the local economy and should be supported through initiatives that improve their access to financial services, business opportunities and skills.

He also pointed to his experience in the business sector, including his tenure as Chairman of the Uasin Gishu Chapter of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), where he engaged government and private-sector stakeholders on issues affecting traders, businesses and investment.

Kenei said his business background has shaped his approach to leadership, with a focus on creating opportunities for residents through enterprise development, investment and stronger grassroots economic institutions.

The engagement with Kipsangui Boda Boda SACCO comes as Kenei continues to expand his outreach to boda boda groups, traders and community organisations across Uasin Gishu ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial contest.

He is seeking to position his business and leadership experience as an alternative approach to managing the county, with grassroots economic empowerment expected to remain a key part of his political message.
