KUPPET Uasin Gishu Secretary Elijah Maiyo Joins Kenya Delegation at East Africa Games in Tanzania

KUPPET Uasin Gishu Executive Secretary Elijah Maiyo has joined education and sports stakeholders in Morogoro, Tanzania, as Kenya takes part in the 2026 East Africa Secondary Schools Games.

The regional competition has brought together schools from across East Africa, with Kenyan teams flying the country's flag in various sporting disciplines.

Maiyo's presence at the games highlights the growing involvement of teachers' union officials in supporting school sports and the welfare of learners participating in regional competitions.

Uasin Gishu is among the counties attracting attention at this year's games, with Cheptil Boys representing Kenya in volleyball.

The Morogoro event has also provided an opportunity for Kenyan education stakeholders to interact with counterparts from across the region as schools compete for honours on the regional stage.

For Uasin Gishu, the participation comes as part of efforts to promote sporting talent among students while giving young athletes an opportunity to gain experience against some of the best school teams in East Africa.

Maiyo is well known in the county for his activities as the KUPPET executive secretary, having previously represented teachers on issues affecting their welfare and working conditions.

As competition gets underway in Morogoro, attention now turns to Kenya's young athletes as they seek to make their mark and return home with regional honours.
