BREAKING: Ndindi Nyoro Dumps Ruto’s UDA, Joins People’s Party of Kenya Ahead of 2027
Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has officially ditched the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and joined the People’s Party of Kenya, in a major political development ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Nyoro made the announcement on Monday, August 17, 2026, during a media briefing, ending months of speculation over his political direction.
The lawmaker’s decision is expected to trigger fresh debate within the political landscape, particularly in President William Ruto’s political backyard, where Nyoro has previously been regarded as an influential figure.
Nyoro had been elected to Parliament on a UDA ticket and was previously closely associated with President Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration.
His departure comes at a time when political realignments are gaining momentum ahead of the 2027 elections, with several politicians reassessing their party affiliations and alliances.
The announcement also comes weeks after Nyoro publicly confirmed his intention to leave UDA, citing concerns over the party’s direction and its commitment to its original mission of serving Kenyans. (People Daily)
Nyoro’s move to the People’s Party of Kenya is likely to attract significant attention in the Mt Kenya region and could reshape political calculations as parties position themselves for the next election.
The Kiharu MP is among the prominent young politicians whose political influence has grown significantly over the past decade. His latest move is therefore expected to fuel further speculation over his long-term political ambitions and the alliances he could build ahead of 2027.
More details on Nyoro’s reasons for joining the People’s Party of Kenya and his political plans are expected to emerge following Monday’s announcement.
