Eldoret National Polytechnic Signs Landmark Partnerships to Drive Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Ahead of CIRIS 2026

The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) has taken a major step towards strengthening technical and vocational education in Kenya after signing two strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Aldai Technical Training Institute (ATTI) and The Cube Innovation Hub (TCIH).

The agreements, signed on July 31, 2026, are expected to deepen institutional collaboration in research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and skills development while enhancing preparations for the upcoming Conference on Innovation, Research and Industrial Skills (CIRIS) 2026.

The signing ceremony was hosted by The Eldoret National Polytechnic Chief Principal, Dr. Charles Koech, who welcomed Madam Sally Lukuyu, the Principal of Aldai Technical Training Institute, and Mr. Allan Rop, the Chief Executive Officer of The Cube Innovation Hub.

The event brought together senior management, departmental heads, and partnership coordinators from the institutions, highlighting the growing importance of collaborative partnerships in advancing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Kenya.

The first Memorandum of Understanding between TENP and Aldai Technical Training Institute seeks to strengthen cooperation in the organization and implementation of CIRIS 2026, one of the institution's flagship platforms that promotes research, innovation, technology, and industrial skills.

Through the partnership, the two institutions will work closely in organizing the conference, sharing expertise, encouraging collaborative research, and providing students and trainers with opportunities to showcase innovative projects and practical solutions that address challenges facing industries and communities.

The collaboration is also expected to promote networking among TVET institutions, industry players, researchers, innovators, and policymakers, creating an environment where ideas can be transformed into practical solutions that contribute to Kenya's socio-economic development.

The second Memorandum of Understanding with The Cube Innovation Hub marks another significant milestone in the institution's efforts to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship among students.

The partnership will focus on supporting innovation ecosystems, strengthening entrepreneurship programmes, mentoring young innovators, facilitating incubation of business ideas, and connecting students with opportunities for commercialization of their innovations.

It is also expected to expose learners to emerging technologies, digital transformation, startup development, and industry linkages that are increasingly becoming essential in today's competitive job market.

The collaboration with The Cube Innovation Hub will further provide opportunities for capacity building through mentorship programmes, innovation challenges, business acceleration initiatives, and partnerships with both public and private sector stakeholders.

Speaking during the ceremony, Dr. Charles Koech emphasized that strategic partnerships remain critical in transforming TVET institutions into centres of excellence that produce graduates equipped with practical competencies, entrepreneurial skills, and innovative thinking.

He noted that modern technical education requires strong collaboration between training institutions, industry, research organizations, and innovation hubs to ensure learners acquire skills that meet the evolving demands of the labour market.

Dr. Koech added that the signing of the two agreements demonstrates The Eldoret National Polytechnic's commitment to producing graduates who are not only job seekers but also job creators capable of driving economic growth through innovation and enterprise.

The ceremony was attended by key members of the institution's management team, including Deputy Principal (Administration) Mr. Paul Seurey and Deputy Principal (Academics) Madam Peninnah Ogutu, who reaffirmed the institution's dedication to building sustainable partnerships that enhance academic excellence and practical training.

Also present were Liaison and Partnership Coordinator Madam Josephine Seurey, representing the collaboration with Aldai Technical Training Institute, and Mr. Vincent Rotich, who coordinated the partnership with The Cube Innovation Hub.

Other officials in attendance included Research and Development Coordinator Dr. Fredrick Agengo, TVET Fairs Coordinator Mr. Danol Rotich, Industrial Liaison Officer (ILO) Coordinator Mr. Jared Lagat, and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Coordinator Mr. Albert Odula, all of whom play key roles in implementing the institution's strategic programmes.

The presence of senior representatives from the partner institutions underscored a shared commitment to advancing innovation, research, entrepreneurship, and technical education through collaboration.
