Natembeya Hosts Kisii Elders, Rallies Multi-Ethnic Support as He Backs Sifuna for President

Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya Tuesday played host to the Kisii Council of elders in what he said was a move to strengthen close ties between the two Bantu speaking communities living in the Cosmopolitan County.

The governor while welcoming the delegation emphasized that social and ethnic cohesion is the vital foundation needed to achieve peaceful coexistence, inclusive growth, and successful local development.

He stressed that fair sharing of resources and jobs stops communities from feeling left behind and urged  local elders and groups to help different tribes live in peace and work together.

Beyond infrastructure development, the Governor challenged various communities in the Cosmopolitan County to complement his administration’s efforts by strengthening moral values in a move to promoting brotherhood.

On his recent move of sacrificing his Presidential ambition to support Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna for the presidency, he said remarks of Ford Kenya Leader and Speaker of the National Assembly moses Wetang’ula and the prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi insinuating that the Senator was not ripe for the Presidency due to financial constraints were unfortunate.

"Those who are labeling Senator Sifuna  otherwise are doing so for their own selfish interests because they have nothing to offer to our people.  He said the two who are beneficiaries of tokenism are living in denial and the better they came out of their cocoons the better’’, he said .

Natembeya said that it was disturbing that leaders had taken upon themselves destroying the peace of Kenyans by sowing seeds of discord among Kenyans who have for decades coexisted peacefully.

He challenged those diarrheaing hate to learn from what destablised other Nations like Rwanda after Nationals were set against each other through genocide.

"Kenya should not be allowed to walk the path it took in 2007/8. I am asking every leader to rethink before oozing nonsense, those doing so must just think about the Kenya that Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and other founding fathers fought for", he said .

Governor Natembeya asked  president William Ruto to sack his health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale whom he said has become a total embarrassment to the country.

He told the NCIC leadership to take action against the CS for ethnic profiling of the kikuyu community he referred to as Hyenas. He asserted that if Ruto could have been serious about cohesion of this country he could have sacked the unrepentant Duale.

The no nonsense TAWE leader reminded president William Ruto to stop daydreaming of easily winning the 10th August general elections.

" If you think you will make it easily as you have been chest thumbing why are you roaming all over???  This is a clear testament that you will be floored badly and relegated to the political periphery.

 He none the less challenged the Alternative government and Linda mwananchi not to fall prey of the evil machinations of Ruto and his functionaries gone Crazy with unchecked political power going all over planting seeds of discord.

The Governor in relating the recent world cup said players from big teams failed in one way to win the Tournament; Something he said is a stark reminder to hold each other and face Ruto as a united front.

" Jambo kuu napenda kuwaachia ni kuwa tutakuwa na Serikali jumulishi itakayowezesha Wananchi kuinuka kiuchumi. Huu mchezo hautakuwepo kwa kuwa about - turn itakuwa lazima", he said.

Kenyans, he said are in a hurry to make life hard for the corrupt who will be sent home after being counselled by Church elders.

The Governor also challenged those singing Tutam to know that Kenya is tired and will never go back to the 1963 era .

"The Kenya of 20020 when Kibaki won against dictatorship is knocking on our doors.  The firebrand President who initiated economic reforms is a fine example and we in the Opposition will salvage this Country from Political and economic deceit.

The Senator of kisii county Richard Onyonka who led the Community Council of elders and grassroots delegations living in Trans Nzoia to pay homage pledged the Community’s full support for the Governor's leadership and development agenda as the Cosmo-Politan region gears up for the upcoming general elections slated for the 10th of August, 2027.

Senator Onyonka who wields immense grassroots backing amongst his community both in Kisii and Trans Nzoia together with the Trans Nzoia Chapter Chairman Mzee Jeremiah Muturi led the house of Omugisi in rallying behind Governor George Natembeya, while putting emphasizes  on the immense development undertaken by the Second time of the Devolution cycle.

The Kisii Senator thanked Governor George Natembeya for considering two Community Members in his government, Gideon Barongo CECM  Roads and Energy and Cathreen Ochengo Kerubo,  Chief Officer Tourism, Culture and performing arts.

Senator Onyonka  said the Kisii Community was solely in the Opposition and warned those driving bad blood between Presidential aspirants to cease; declaring that the Omugusi and Omuluhya were one.

He hit at National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi for confusing the Mulembe Nation, each claiming the Presidency.

The senator while answering questions fielded by the media during a presser said ‘’ The issue of duale’s careless rhetoric cannot be taken easily, adding that it wasn’t the question of whether resigning but being dismissed by the appointing authority.

" What can two men opposing each other for the Presidency achieve while walking together??? Upuzi huu utaisha because their age(s) have caught up with them now that we have Natembeya and Sifuna.

Senator Onyonka further hit out at the two octogenarians for lying that the Nairobi Senator was a political juvenile and financially unstable to run for National Campaigns.

"If you see the two tell them that money can get finished and not a good name like that of Senator Edwin Sifuna and the United alternative government", he said.

He warned those with loose tongues that the community which suffered irreparable harm during the post-election violence will not sit pretty to be threatened.

Today's meeting according to MS Cathreen Ochengo Kerubo,  a youth in the Community's Women league focused on uniting the Gusii community and consolidating local support for Governor Natembeya ahead of next year's national elections.

She said the Children of Omugusi were solidly in the Wanam agenda led by Governor Natembeya who has in the past taken care of the Community's interests.

MS. Kerubo however challenged the Community to be weary of those elements who have in the past endangered lives of community. She cited security challenges during the 2007)/8 spontaneous clashes that rendered community members as IDPS.

Roads and Energy CECM Gideon Barongo challenged the Community to rally behind Governor Natembeya's re-election bid.

The Community also endorsed Matisi ward representative Obed Mwale Mahanga's Senatorial bid and that of the  Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, Irrigation and Cooperative Development CECM Phanice Naliaka Khatundi who still remains as a front runner for the Affirmative action seat currently held by Lilian Siyoi.

The kisii council of elders political strategist and aide of the Governor Zablon obiri led the Community in declaring Natemneya’s re- election bid ‘ Tutam while saying the kisiis all over the Country will treat President Ruto with contempt by joining other Kenyans in a vote of no confidence branding him a Wantam President.

‘’ Governor we will continue holding your hand in your quest for re- election . You have been a good friend to the kisii Community and its leadership and thank you for giving members of our community major slots in your administration’’, he said.

Mahanga recalled tougher times that the Kisii Community and others underwent during the post election violence and challenged those diarrhea Ing hate speech to stop or be faced ‘’Mundu Khu mundu’’

Lands, Housing , Physical planning and Urban Development CECM Pius Omulo Gumo who is in the race for the Endebess Parliamentary seat also urged the community to remain steadfast behind Governor Natembeya.

County Secretary Truphosa Amere, her deputy George Kisaka, CECMs Eliud Tormoi( Gender, youth Affairs , Sports, Culture and Tourism), Trade and Industrialization CECM Patrick Gacheru, his Education and Technical Services Counterpart Janerose Mutama , Kerio Lorot of Health and Sanitation and Robert Wamalwa of Water were in attendance. Livestock and Fisheries Chief Officer Emmanuel Waswa Simiyu was Present.

Tuwan Ward representative Francis Daddy Were lauded as one son of the omugusi Advocate Kaosa for standing with the Tuwan Community in bringing to an end decade of endless feuds.

Natembeya also met delegations from the Luo, Luhya 17, the Bukusu and Turkana communities who also  pledged  full support for the Governor's leadership ,  development agenda and next year’s re- election bid.
