Dr. Faith Mwaura Sets Out Bold Vision for a Better, More Empowered Roysambu
Incoming Roysambu Member of Parliament Dr. Faith Mwaura is emerging as a compelling new voice in Nairobi’s political landscape, bringing to public service a combination of professional experience, business acumen, passion for community development and a clear understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing families across the constituency.
Dr. Mwaura has unveiled an ambitious development agenda anchored on quality education, youth skills development, technical training and women’s economic empowerment, signalling her intention to make human capital development the foundation of Roysambu’s transformation.
Her approach reflects the qualities of a leader who is not merely seeking political office, but one who has taken time to identify practical challenges affecting residents and develop solutions that can create lasting impact.
At the heart of her agenda is education. Dr. Mwaura says every child in Roysambu deserves to learn in a safe, dignified and decent environment, regardless of their background.
> “What I really want to do for my beloved Constituency Roysambu is to ensure all school going Children are enrolled into Decent Classrooms. Education unlocks Life’s Opportunities,” she said.
The emphasis on education demonstrates Dr. Mwaura’s conviction that meaningful development begins by investing in children and giving them the foundation they need to compete and succeed. Her vision places the needs of ordinary families at the centre of constituency development.
Investing in Skills and Youth
Dr. Mwaura is equally passionate about equipping Roysambu’s young people with practical skills that can translate into employment, entrepreneurship and economic independence.
She has raised concern over the limited availability and condition of technical and vocational training facilities in the constituency, noting that Roysambu currently has only one TVET institution in Kahawa West, which she describes as “almost non-functional.”
She has pledged to increase the number of TVET institutions in Roysambu and pursue the establishment of a **Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC)** campus in the constituency.
> “We must add the number of TVET’s in Roysambu... I will also do my best to bring KMTC to Roysambu. Youth are very enterprising they only need the right skills and knowledge to succeed in life,” Dr. Mwaura said.
Her focus on technical education underscores her practical leadership philosophy: rather than simply talking about unemployment, she wants to help young people acquire the skills, knowledge and opportunities required to become productive participants in the economy.
A Champion for Women’s Economic Empowerment
Women occupy a central position in Dr. Mwaura’s development vision.
Recognising women as key drivers of household and community economies, she has proposed the establishment of a **women-led SACCO** that would improve access to affordable financing for micro and small enterprises.
“When a woman is empowered her whole household including her husband will stand. Through a duly registered Sacco for and by the Women we will make Financing Accessible to their micro and small businesses!”
The proposal reflects Dr. Mwaura’s belief that empowering women economically has a multiplier effect across families and communities. By improving access to finance, she hopes to create an environment where women can grow businesses, generate income and build more secure livelihoods for their families.
### A Fresh Voice in Nairobi Leadership
Dr. Mwaura’s growing public profile has also been shaped by her background as a business leader. A recent NM Media feature described her as **“a business leader seeking to translate private-sector acumen into public service,”** with her agenda centred on youth development, education and enterprise.
That background gives her a potentially valuable perspective as she seeks elective office, particularly at a time when residents increasingly expect leaders to demonstrate practical ideas, measurable results and responsible stewardship of public resources.
As a woman seeking to enter elective politics, Dr. Mwaura also represents the growing participation of women in leadership and decision-making in Nairobi County. Her candidacy adds another important voice to conversations about inclusive representation and women’s role in shaping the future of Kenya’s capital.
More importantly, her emerging political identity is built around service, empowerment and opportunity. Her emphasis on classrooms for children, skills for young people and affordable financing for women presents a people-centred agenda that seeks to address some of the most fundamental building blocks of household and community prosperity.
With her blend of business experience, ambition and a clearly articulated development vision, Dr. Faith Mwaura is positioning herself as a leader with the determination to move Roysambu from promises to practical programmes that improve lives.
