Award-Winning Teacher Shokwei Barsulai Celebrates Scholarship Success as Schools Close

Award-winning teacher Shokwei V. Barsulai, the headteacher of Kamariny Primary School, has expressed gratitude to friends and well-wishers whose support continues to transform the lives of needy learners through education scholarships.

As schools closed for the holiday, Barsulai said he was overwhelmed with joy after receiving calls from students in senior school who are pursuing their education through scholarships funded by a network of generous supporters.

According to the educator, the calls have become a cherished tradition at the end of every school term, with students reaching out to reassure him that they have safely returned home.

"Every closing day, I receive calls from the students we support through scholarships. Every call begins with, 'Teacher, I am home, and I am doing well,' and those words are one of the greatest blessings," he said.

Barsulai credited the success of the scholarship programme to friends and partners who have chosen to invest in children's education, noting that some have met him personally while others have supported the initiative from afar.

He said every contribution, prayer, and opportunity extended to a child has the potential to change a life permanently, urging more individuals to support education and mentorship programmes for vulnerable learners.

The award-winning headteacher thanked all donors for their generosity, saying their kindness continues to give hope to children who might otherwise struggle to remain in school.

He also encouraged students to make good use of the school holiday by staying safe, making responsible decisions, and remembering that they are valued by their families and communities.

Barsulai concluded with a call for collective responsibility in safeguarding children's welfare, urging Kenyans to continue protecting and supporting young people.

"Pamoja tuwalinde watoto," he said, emphasizing that every child deserves a safe environment and the opportunity to achieve their dreams through education.
