Seth Panyako Ends Senate Speculation, Declares Bid for Malava MP Seat on UDA Ticket
Trade unionist and politician Seth Panyako has officially declared that he will contest the Malava Constituency Member of Parliament seat on the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket in the 2027 General Election, putting to rest speculation that he was eyeing the Senate position.
In a firm statement, Panyako dismissed claims linking him to a senatorial bid, terming the reports as mere propaganda.
"I will be vying for the Member of Parliament, Malava Constituency, on the UDA Party ticket in the 2027 General Election. Wale wanasema mambo ya senator hyo ni propaganda," he said.
His announcement positions him among the growing list of leaders seeking elective office under the ruling UDA party as political activities ahead of the 2027 General Election continue to gather momentum. The declaration is expected to reshape the political landscape in Malava, with competition for the parliamentary seat already attracting significant public interest.
Panyako, a prominent labour leader known for his outspoken advocacy on workers' rights, now shifts his focus to elective politics, saying his ambition is to represent the people of Malava in the National Assembly.
His declaration comes at a time when UDA is preparing for competitive nominations across the country, with thousands of aspirants already expressing interest in flying the party's ticket in the 2027 elections.
Political analysts expect the Malava parliamentary race to be one of the closely watched contests in Kakamega County as aspirants intensify grassroots campaigns ahead of the party primaries.
