Eldoret National Polytechnic Makes History as First Public Entity to Upload 2026/27 Procurement Plan on eGP Portal
The Eldoret National Polytechnic has set a new benchmark in public procurement after becoming the first public entity in Kenya to approve and upload its procurement plan for the 2026/27 Financial Year on the Government Electronic Procurement (eGP) portal.
The milestone was achieved on Thursday, July 9, 2026, positioning the institution at the forefront of the government’s transition to a more transparent, accountable and technology-driven procurement system.
The historic exercise was overseen by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr Paul Murgor, and the Chief Principal, Dr Charles Koech.
The move marks a major step in strengthening compliance with government procurement reforms, which are aimed at ensuring that public entities plan, procure and manage resources through the electronic platform.
Speaking during the occasion, the institution’s leadership said the achievement reflects the Polytechnic’s commitment to good governance, accountability and efficient service delivery.
Dr Murgor lauded the management and procurement team for moving swiftly to comply with the new digital procurement framework, saying the institution had demonstrated that public entities can embrace reforms and lead by example.
“This is a proud moment for the Eldoret National Polytechnic. By approving and uploading our procurement plan early, we are showing our commitment to transparency, efficiency and responsible management of public resources,” he said.
Chief Principal Dr Koech said the institution’s adoption of the eGP system would enhance planning, reduce delays in procurement processes and ensure that the Polytechnic gets value for money in the delivery of services to students and staff.
He noted that the procurement plan will guide the institution’s acquisition of goods, works and services during the 2026/27 financial year, while also promoting openness and fairness among suppliers seeking to do business with the Polytechnic.
The Government Electronic Procurement portal is expected to improve visibility in public procurement by digitising key processes, including procurement planning, tendering, evaluation and contract management.
The Eldoret National Polytechnic’s early compliance is expected to serve as an example to other public entities across the country as the government continues to roll out the eGP system.
The eGP portal includes procurement-plan functions as part of Kenya’s electronic procurement system. (egpkenya.go.ke)
