Passaris Calls for Probe into Alleged Sexual Misconduct on NICCO Movers Bus

Nairobi Woman Representative Hon. Esther Passaris has called for an urgent investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct involving a driver of a NICCO Movers Ltd bus.

The legislator expressed concern over claims by a female passenger that she was subjected to an indecent act while travelling aboard Bus KDS 195S. She noted that, if established, the alleged conduct could amount to an offence under the Sexual Offences Act.

Passaris also raised concern over allegations that the passenger was met with victim-blaming after reporting the incident to the bus company, emphasizing that survivors of sexual misconduct deserve support rather than blame.

She urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate legal action should any offences be established. She also called on NICCO Movers Ltd to cooperate fully with investigators and strengthen measures to ensure the safety of all passengers.

Reaffirming her long-standing advocacy against gender-based violence, Passaris stressed that every person has the right to travel in safety and dignity, while expressing sympathy for the complainant over the alleged ordeal.
