Ruto Calls for Inclusive Planning Ahead of Joint Mashujaa Day Celebrations in Eldoret
President William Samoei Ruto on Monday evening hosted leaders from Elgeyo-Marakwet, Uasin Gishu, and Nandi counties to discuss preparations for the upcoming Mashujaa Day celebrations, which will be jointly hosted by the three counties in Eldoret City.
In a statement shared after the meeting, President Ruto said the discussions focused on ensuring the successful organization of the national event, which is expected to attract thousands of Kenyans and dignitaries from across the country.
The Head of State emphasized the importance of inclusive planning, noting that the significance of Mashujaa Day requires the participation of all relevant stakeholders.
"This evening, I hosted leaders from Elgeyo-Marakwet, Uasin Gishu and Nandi counties to discuss the upcoming Mashujaa Day celebrations to be co-hosted by the three counties in Eldoret City. Considering the symbolism of the occasion, I urged the leaders to involve all the stakeholders in preparation of the national event," President Ruto said.
The President said involving national and county government agencies, community leaders, the private sector, and other key stakeholders will help ensure the celebrations reflect the country's unity, heritage, and shared achievements.
Mashujaa Day, celebrated annually on October 20, honours Kenya's heroes and heroines who contributed to the country's struggle for independence and continue to play a role in nation-building.
This year's celebrations in Eldoret are expected to showcase the region's cultural diversity, economic potential, and growing status as a key hub for sports, commerce, and investment. Preparations are expected to gather momentum in the coming weeks as organizing committees finalize plans for the national event.
