Naivas Expands Footprint with Grand Opening of Newgate Square Store in Fast-Growing Kamakis
Leading retail chain Naivas Supermarkets has strengthened its presence in the Kenyan market with the official opening of its newest branch at Newgate Square in Kamakis, Ruiru, as the company celebrates 36 years of serving communities across the country.
The new outlet marks another milestone for the retailer, which has grown from a single neighborhood supermarket into a nationwide network of more than 110 stores, cementing its position as one of Kenya’s most trusted retail brands.
Located in one of Kenya’s fastest-growing residential and commercial hubs, the Kamakis store is expected to provide residents with convenient access to a wide range of products and services under one roof, including fresh produce, butchery, bakery, delicatessen, groceries, household goods, electrical appliances, clothing, health and beauty products, and baby care items.
The official opening was led by Naivas Chief Executive Officer Andreas von Paleske and attended by notable industry leaders including Retrak CEO Wambui Mbarire and Kevian Kenya Group Director of Sales and Marketing Polycarp Igathe.
Speaking during the launch, von Paleske said the new store reflects the trust Kenyan families have placed in Naivas over the last three and a half decades.
"Opening this store during our 36th year is an important milestone in the Naivas journey. It reflects the trust that Kenyan families have placed in us and our commitment to continue growing alongside them. Every new Naivas store is more than another location; it is a promise to bring Fresh, Quality, Choice and Bei Poa closer to the communities we serve," he said.
He noted that Kamakis has rapidly emerged as a major residential and business corridor, making it a strategic location for the retailer’s continued expansion.
"As Kenya grows, we will continue investing in communities, ensuring more families have a Naivas nearby whenever they need us," he added.
The retailer said the new branch has been designed to cater to diverse customer needs, from young professionals and entrepreneurs to students, commuters, and growing families.
Customers will also benefit from Naivas’ digital shopping platform, which allows shoppers to order products online and enjoy home or workplace delivery services.
Beyond offering shopping convenience, the new store is expected to contribute to local economic development through job creation and strengthened partnerships with farmers, manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers.
Naivas also praised the developers of Newgate Square for creating a modern retail destination, noting that the supermarket is the first major retailer to establish operations within the development.
The launch underscores Naivas’ continued expansion strategy and its commitment to delivering what it describes as its four core promises: Fresh, Quality, Choice, and Bei Poa (Great Value).
As the retailer celebrates 36 years in business, it says its mission remains unchanged — bringing trusted value, convenience, and a complete shopping experience closer to Kenyan communities.
“Kamakis Kwetu, Tumefika. Karibu Naivas,” the company declared as it welcomed shoppers to its newest outlet.
