Murkomen Delivers President Ruto's Gift to Tenwek High School

Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has challenged students across the country to embrace discipline, hard work and integrity, saying these values remain the surest path to academic excellence, leadership and success in life.

Murkomen made the remarks on Saturday while presiding over the annual prize-giving and students' motivation day at Tenwek High School in Bomet County, where he also presented a new school bus on behalf of President William Ruto.

The Cabinet Secretary described Tenwek High School as one of Kenya's most respected learning institutions, noting that it has built a strong reputation for producing disciplined students who have gone on to excel in leadership, business, public service, education, medicine, engineering and many other professions.

"Tenwek High School has consistently stood out as a cradle for shaping character, a hub for nurturing leadership and an invaluable launchpad for successful careers in diverse fields," Murkomen said.

He praised the school's management, teachers, parents and alumni for maintaining high academic standards while nurturing students with strong moral values and leadership skills.

Discipline Key to Academic Excellence

In his address to students, Murkomen underscored the importance of personal discipline, urging learners to remain focused on their education despite the many distractions facing young people today.

He told students that academic success is not achieved by chance but through consistency, self-control, determination and respect for teachers and parents.

"Personal discipline is the cornerstone of academic success and achievement in life," he said, encouraging learners to set ambitious goals and work diligently towards achieving them.

Murkomen further urged students to make wise decisions, manage their time effectively and uphold integrity in both their studies and daily lives.

He reminded them that education remains one of the greatest equalizers in society and encouraged them to take full advantage of the opportunities available in school to build brighter futures.

President Ruto's Support for Education

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of a new school bus to Tenwek High School on behalf of President William Ruto.

Murkomen said the donation demonstrates the government's continued commitment to improving learning conditions and supporting institutions that have consistently excelled in academics, discipline and co-curricular activities.

The new bus is expected to enhance the school's transport capacity by facilitating educational trips, academic competitions, sports activities and other co-curricular programmes.

The Cabinet Secretary noted that the Kenya Kwanza administration remains committed to investing in education infrastructure and creating an environment that enables learners to realize their full potential.

Celebration of Academic Excellence

The annual prize-giving ceremony brought together students, parents, teachers, alumni and leaders to celebrate outstanding academic performance and recognize excellence in leadership, sports, innovation and co-curricular activities.

Students who excelled in various disciplines were honoured for their achievements, with leaders encouraging them to remain focused as they prepare for future academic and professional pursuits.

Murkomen commended the school's teachers for their dedication and sacrifice in mentoring students, saying educators play a critical role in shaping the next generation of leaders.

He also acknowledged parents for their unwavering support in ensuring their children receive quality education.

Leaders Attend the Event

The ceremony attracted several senior government officials and political leaders from Bomet County and beyond.

Among those present were Basic Education Principal Secretary John Ololtuaa and Environment and Climate Change Principal Secretary Dr. Eng. Festus Ng'eno.

Also in attendance were Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei, Members of Parliament Linet Chepkorir, Richard Kilel and Joyce Korir, former Members of Parliament Wilson Sossion, Bernard Bett and Nick Salat, as well as Members of County Assembly and other distinguished guests.

Senior national government officials present included Bomet County Commissioner Caroline Nzwili and County Administration Police Commander Damaris Wambugu.

The event concluded with leaders expressing confidence that Tenwek High School will continue producing disciplined, innovative and patriotic citizens capable of contributing meaningfully to Kenya's social and economic development.

Murkomen reiterated that with discipline, determination and quality education, today's students have the potential to become tomorrow's leaders, innovators and changemakers.
