Kiambu County Assembly Hails Assent of ECDE and Agro-Ecology Bills as Major Legislative Milestone
Kiambu County Assembly Speaker Wakili Charles Thiong’o OGW has described the assent of two key Bills by Governor H.E Kimani Wamatangi as a defining moment for the county’s legislative and development agenda.
The Governor signed into law the Kiambu County ECDE Bill 2025 and the Kiambu County Agro-Ecology Development Bill 2025, both of which had earlier been passed by the County Assembly.
According to the Speaker, the ECDE Act establishes a structured legal framework for Early Childhood Development Education across Kiambu County, aimed at safeguarding gains made in the sector while also enhancing the welfare and terms of service for ECDE teachers.
He noted that the law will strengthen the foundation of education in the county by ensuring better regulation, improved learning environments, and increased investment in early learning systems.
On the Agro-Ecology Development Act, the Speaker said the legislation is designed to promote organic farming practices and regulate the use of harmful agricultural chemicals, which have been linked to rising cases of lifestyle-related diseases.
He added that the law will encourage sustainable farming methods while protecting public health and improving food safety standards across the county.
Wakili Charles Thiong’o further highlighted the achievements of the Kiambu County Assembly, noting that it has distinguished itself as one of the most productive legislative bodies in the country, having enacted over 20 Bills into law across various sectors.
He expressed confidence that the Assembly will continue to deliver progressive legislation aimed at improving service delivery and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
“We shall continue to endeavor to enact more progressive laws for the benefit of the great people of Kiambu,” he stated.
The developments mark a continued collaboration between the County Executive and the County Assembly in advancing policy reforms geared toward education, agriculture, health, and overall socio-economic development in Kiambu County.
