Kamuren Warns Rift Valley Leaders Against 2032 Succession Politics, Urges Unity Behind Ruto

 Baringo South Member of Parliament Charles Kamuren has issued a strong warning to Kalenjin leaders against engaging in early succession politics, saying emerging divisions linked to the 2032 political race risk undermining unity in the Rift Valley.

Speaking in a charged address, Kamuren expressed concern over what he termed growing infighting among leaders, urging them to shift their focus to strengthening support for President William Ruto’s administration and his re-election agenda.

He cautioned that premature political endorsements and behind-the-scenes political alignments were creating unnecessary tension among leaders and communities, warning that such actions could weaken cohesion within the region.

“The focus should remain on supporting development and ensuring continuity of leadership under President William Ruto,” he said, adding that internal divisions could derail ongoing government programmes in the region.

Kamuren also called for respect among elected leaders, urging political actors to avoid undermining colleagues through public criticism or factional endorsements.

He emphasized that leaders should instead prioritize service delivery and unity of purpose, noting that voters expect development rather than political rivalry.

The MP further warned against what he described as divisive politics driven by 2032 succession debates, saying such discussions were premature and potentially harmful to regional stability.

His remarks come amid increasing political activity in parts of the Rift Valley, where leaders are reportedly positioning themselves ahead of future electoral cycles.

Kamuren urged leaders to maintain discipline, respect institutional leadership, and remain focused on strengthening the government’s development agenda.
