RENAISSANCE PARTY ROCKS TRANS NZOIA AS ODM, UDA, FORD-K AND DAP-K DEFECTORS JUMP SHIP

The Renaissance Party on Sunday staged a major political show of force in Trans Nzoia County after officially receiving defectors from several established political parties, signaling what leaders described as the beginning of a significant political realignment ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The youth-driven political outfit welcomed members from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), Ford Kenya and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), sparking fresh debate over the shifting political landscape in the county.

Leading the ODM defectors was former Endebess Constituency parliamentary aspirant Ainea Moses Masinde, who said he had chosen to join a political movement that represents a fresh and bold alternative to traditional parties.

"We have made a conscious decision to join a party that has positioned itself as a voice for ordinary Kenyans and one that is ready to challenge the status quo," said Masinde.

Among those crossing over from UDA was Francis Chemos Muneria, who accused the ruling party of promoting nepotism, corruption and favoritism in appointments and nominations.

"Today marks the beginning of UDA's decline in this county. Many members have become disillusioned by a system that rewards politically connected individuals while sidelining loyal supporters," said Muneria.

Youth leader Vincent Mukabwa said Kenya was in urgent need of a political renaissance driven by young people and fresh ideas.

Mukabwa also criticized reports regarding plans by the United States administration to establish an Ebola quarantine and treatment facility in Kenya for Americans exposed to the disease in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He alleged that the proposal was linked to broader political interests and urged Kenyans to reject any arrangements they believe compromise national interests.

"The proposal must be subjected to public scrutiny. Kenyans deserve full transparency on matters touching on public health and national sovereignty," he said.

Masinde and other leaders, including Ford Kenya defector Christopher Kweyu, claimed that the reported Ebola facility plans had generated public concern and dissatisfaction among sections of the population.

The leaders further expressed confidence that the growing support for the Renaissance Party would reshape the country's political future.

"We are witnessing the beginning of a generational shift. The growing number of defections reflects a desire for new leadership and a new direction for Kenya," Masinde said.

Welcoming the new members, Renaissance Party Trans Nzoia County Chairman Stanislaus Omondi described the defections as evidence of growing dissatisfaction within established political formations.

"The events witnessed today represent a growing mistrust within some political parties, including those many of us previously belonged to," said Omondi.

He maintained that the Renaissance Party was committed to promoting internal democracy, transparency and equal opportunities for all members.

"Our party belongs to the people. We are building a movement that values merit, accountability and genuine grassroots participation rather than political favoritism," he added.

Political observers say the defections could significantly alter political calculations in Trans Nzoia as parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the next General Election.
