President William Ruto has hailed marathon sensation Sabastian Sawe following his record-breaking performance in London, describing the achievement as a defining moment in the story of human endurance.

Speaking at State House Nairobi, where he hosted the athlete, the Head of State said Sawe’s triumph goes beyond sport, noting that it has redefined the limits of human potential.

“What Sabastian Sawe achieved last weekend in London is not merely a sporting triumph; it is a defining moment in the story of human endurance,” Ruto said.

The President praised the young runner for not only breaking a record but also inspiring millions by accomplishing what many had considered impossible.

“Sabastian did not only break a record, he expanded the horizon of human potential. This young man, our hero, did what many believed could not be done. He has made the impossible possible,” he added.

During the reception in Nairobi County, President Ruto reaffirmed the government’s commitment to nurturing sports talent across the country. He said Kenya will scale up investment in talent development and the construction of world-class sporting infrastructure to enable young people to turn their abilities into sustainable livelihoods and meaningful careers.

“We undertake to scale up investment in talent development and build world-class sporting infrastructure for our youth,” the President stated.

Ruto congratulated Sawe for what he termed an “unmatched fete,” noting that the athlete’s success continues to cement Kenya’s global dominance in long-distance running.
