Uasin Gishu Hosts Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital Team for Quality Improvement Benchmarking Visit
The County Government of Uasin Gishu on Thursday hosted a delegation of healthcare workers from Mwai Kibaki Referral Hospital in a benchmarking and mentorship visit aimed at strengthening quality improvement systems at Burnt Forest Sub-County Hospital.
The visiting team, led by Dr. Einstein Kibet, engaged with local health management teams in a collaborative exchange focused on enhancing service delivery, patient care, and institutional management practices.
The forum brought together quality improvement teams and hospital administrators from both institutions, providing a platform for sharing best practices and identifying innovative approaches to improve healthcare outcomes.
Speaking during the engagement, County Chief Officer for Clinical Services Ambrose Tarus welcomed the delegation and underscored the importance of inter-facility collaboration in promoting continuous learning among healthcare workers.
Mr. Tarus noted that mentorship and benchmarking initiatives play a critical role in helping facilities evaluate their performance and adopt more efficient and patient-centered approaches to healthcare delivery.
He highlighted that Burnt Forest Sub-County Hospital has made significant progress in quality improvement, particularly through the establishment of structured feedback mechanisms that capture patient experiences and public input.
“These systems are critical in shaping how we deliver services. The feedback we receive is timely, actionable, and helps us respond better to the needs of our community,” said Tarus.
He reaffirmed the county’s commitment to strengthening quality improvement as a core pillar of its health agenda, adding that sustained mentorship, supervision, and adoption of best practices will enhance efficiency, accountability, and patient satisfaction across all facilities.
On his part, Dr. Kibet commended the management and staff of Burnt Forest Sub-County Hospital for their dedication to providing quality healthcare services. He noted that the team was impressed by the facility’s organization, cleanliness, and overall standards of care.
Dr. Kibet further highlighted the installation of surveillance cameras within the hospital as an important innovation that has improved monitoring, strengthened security, and enhanced staff accountability.
He said the mentorship visit offered a valuable opportunity for mutual learning and exchange of ideas that will contribute to improved service delivery in both institutions.

In a related development, the Chief Officer also conducted a support supervision visit at Chepkigen Health Facilities as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen service delivery across the county’s health system.
