Mass Voter Registration Drive Launched in Uasin Gishu County
Residents of Uasin Gishu County have been urged to take part in an ongoing mass voter registration exercise spearheaded by Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei. The initiative aims to boost voter turnout ahead of upcoming elections by encouraging eligible citizens to register and update their voter details.
Speaking during the campaign, Shollei emphasized the importance of civic participation, calling on residents to seize the opportunity to shape their future through the ballot. “Every vote counts. Registering as a voter is the first step toward ensuring your voice is heard,” she said.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is facilitating the exercise, with registration centers set up across the county. Citizens are advised to visit their nearest IEBC registration centre with a valid national ID or passport.
In addition to new registrations, the exercise also allows voters to update or transfer their registration details. Community members have also been encouraged to mobilize friends and family to participate in the process.
The campaign, branded “Jitokeze,” highlights three key actions: registering as a voter, updating personal details, and encouraging others to register. Officials hope the drive will significantly increase the number of registered voters in the region.
Residents are reminded that participation in the electoral process is a fundamental democratic right and a vital step in determining leadership and development priorities at both county and national levels.
