TENP Dominates National Drama Festivals with 16 Awards in Nyeri
The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) has cemented its status as a powerhouse in the performing arts after delivering a commanding performance at the Kenya National Drama Festivals held in Nyeri, scooping an impressive 16 awards across multiple categories.
In what many described as a masterclass in storytelling and stagecraft, TENP outshone competitors with productions that blended creativity, precision, and emotional depth. From gripping narratives to high-energy choreography and a standout theatrical play, the institution’s presence was both dominant and defining.
A Golden Run Across Categories
TENP’s excellence was evident in the Narrative and Broadcast category, where it secured top honors including Best English Narrative, Most Creative Narrative, and Best Original Narrative. The institution’s narrators were also recognized as the best overall, underlining their command of voice, delivery, and storytelling.
In Cultural Creative Dance (CCD), TENP delivered equally stellar results, clinching awards for Best Choreography, Most Creative Performance, and Overall Winning Dance—further showcasing their versatility on stage.
“KITO” Steals the Spotlight
The institution’s Kiswahili play, KITO, emerged as one of the festival’s biggest highlights, sweeping major awards including Best Kiswahili Play and Overall Best Play of 2026. Individual performances also drew acclaim, with Franklin Omondi winning Best Male Actor and Best Overall Actor, while Priscilla Khakasa took home Best Overall Actress. Phoebe was named Best Female Actress.
The play’s success was complemented by wins in costume and décor, reinforcing TENP’s attention to detail in production design.
Film and Beyond
TENP also extended its dominance into film, winning top honors in the Screen Verse category—demonstrating its growing strength beyond traditional stage performances.
Leadership Applauds the Achievement
Congratulating the team on their historic performance, the Chief Principal of TENP, Dr Charles Koech, praised the students and trainers for their dedication and excellence. He lauded their discipline and creativity, noting that the victories reflect the institution’s commitment to nurturing talent.
Dr Koech further reaffirmed the polytechnic’s full support for the creative arts program, promising continued investment and encouragement as the team advances to the next stage.
Eyes on the Gala Stage
Following this resounding success, TENP will advance to the Gala Stage with entries in Play, Narrative, Cultural Creative Dance, and Screen Verse—carrying high expectations and momentum.
