Limuru Politics Heat Up as Mwathi Takes Aim at Ruto Administration
Limuru’s political scene is beginning to stir ahead of the 2027 general elections, with aspiring MP Peter Mwathi emerging as a vocal critic of the current administration led by William Ruto.
In a strongly worded address that has since drawn attention across the political divide, Mwathi accused the government of fostering what he described as a climate of oppression and shrinking democratic space. He alleged that state institutions, particularly the police, are being used to silence dissent and intimidate opposition voices.
“The misuse of state machinery to suppress criticism is a direct threat to our democracy,” Mwathi stated, warning that such actions could erode public trust in governance and institutions.
Despite the gravity of his claims, Mwathi struck a defiant tone, insisting that he and other like-minded leaders would not be cowed. Declaring that they “will not buy fear,” he signaled a readiness to confront what he termed as rising authoritarian tendencies within the government.
The remarks position Mwathi as an outspoken contender in the Limuru race, appealing to voters who are increasingly concerned about governance, accountability, and civil liberties. His message appears crafted to resonate with a segment of the electorate eager for bold leadership and a renewed commitment to democratic principles.
As political alignments slowly begin to take shape ahead of 2027, Mwathi’s rhetoric is likely to intensify debate both within Limuru and nationally, setting the stage for what could be a highly contested electoral battle.
