Leaders Rally Behind Ruto as Development Projects Transform Kisii
Leaders in Kisii County have praised William Ruto for spearheading major development projects aimed at improving livelihoods across the region.
Speaking in Nyamache during the third day of the President’s tour of the Gusii region, local leaders expressed strong support for the Head of State, citing ongoing infrastructure and social development initiatives.
Kisii Governor Simba Arati, who also serves as Deputy Party Leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), said the projects—including roads, markets, affordable housing, and last-mile electricity connections—are already making a tangible impact.
“The ongoing projects in different constituencies within our county will significantly boost our development agenda,” Arati said.
He also pointed to improved collaboration between ODM and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) under the broad-based government arrangement, noting that the partnership has accelerated service delivery in the county.
Among key announcements, Arati thanked the President for allocating Sh100 million toward the upgrade of Nyamache Sub-County Referral Hospital, a move expected to strengthen healthcare services and advance universal health coverage.
Also present was Stephen Isaboke, Principal Secretary in the State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to unity and inclusive development.
Meanwhile, South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro criticized opposition leaders, accusing them of promoting divisive politics instead of supporting development initiatives.
During the tour, President Ruto launched several projects, including the construction of student hostels at Nyamache KMTC in Bobasi Constituency. He also pledged Sh100 million for the hospital upgrade and an additional Sh20 million for classrooms and laboratories at the institution.
The President further inspected the Sh75 million Mogonga Modern Market, designed to accommodate 300 traders and equipped with an ICT hub, cold storage, and community spaces.
In addition, he handed over the Masimba Modern Market to traders in Nyaribari Masaba Constituency and launched infrastructure projects including the Keumbu–Ibeno road and the rehabilitation of the Kisii water supply network in Nyaribari Chache Constituency.
The tour underscores the government’s focus on infrastructure expansion and economic empowerment as it seeks to strengthen development at the grassroots level.
