Kenya Ready to Host Africa-France Summit as BICC Nears Completion, Says CS Miano

Kenya is fully prepared to host the upcoming Africa-France Summit, with construction works at the Bomas International Convention Complex (BICC) progressing steadily, Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano has announced.

In a statement affirming the country’s readiness, Ms. Miano expressed satisfaction with the ongoing works at the BICC, noting that the pace and quality of construction reflect Kenya’s preparedness to welcome thousands of international delegates.

“The progress of the ongoing construction at the Bomas International Convention Complex is impressive and satisfactory, confirming our readiness to host the Africa-France Summit next month,” she said.

The project, located at the iconic Bomas of Kenya, is expected to significantly enhance the country’s capacity to host high-level international meetings and conferences.

Ms. Miano attributed the milestone to the leadership and strategic vision of William Samoei Ruto, noting that the government has placed strong emphasis on developing the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector as a key driver of tourism growth.

“Through the leadership of His Excellency President William Ruto, our strategic focus on the MICE sector remains an anchor of our tourism growth strategy,” she stated.

Once complete, the BICC will have the capacity to host over 10,000 delegates, positioning Kenya as a premier destination for global summits and business travel within the region.

“With such infrastructural developments boosting our capacity to host large-scale events with world-class facilities, we are ensuring that Kenya remains the top choice for international summits and business travel,” Ms. Miano added.

Beyond hosting conferences, the Cabinet Secretary emphasized that the BICC project will play a dual role in preserving Kenya’s cultural heritage while driving economic growth.

“The BICC will not only preserve the rich cultural heritage of Bomas but will also serve as a modern engine for economic growth, creating jobs and opening new investment frontiers,” she said.

She expressed optimism about the future of Kenya’s conference tourism, citing ongoing investments in infrastructure and policy support aimed at strengthening the sector.

“The future of Kenya’s conference tourism is bright. Magical Kenya is ready to host the world,” she affirmed.

The Africa-France Summit is expected to bring together leaders, investors, and policymakers, further cementing Kenya’s position as a regional hub for diplomacy, trade, and international engagement.
