Hon. Dr. Otiende Amollo Applauds Collins Oyuu on KNUT Re-Election Victory

Rarieda Member of Parliament, Otiende Amollo, has extended warm congratulations to Collins Oyuu following his re-election as Secretary General of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) for a second term—unopposed.

In a message filled with admiration and solidarity, Hon. Amollo lauded Oyuu and his entire team for earning renewed confidence from educators across the country, describing the unopposed victory as a strong endorsement of their leadership, dedication, and service to Kenya’s teaching fraternity.

“Congratulations, Bro Collins Oyuu and your team, on your re-election unopposed as the Secretary General of KNUT for a second term,” Hon. Amollo stated. “This remarkable achievement is not only a testament to your steadfast leadership but also a clear reflection of the trust and unity you have inspired within the teaching profession.”

The Rarieda legislator, himself a distinguished legal mind and Senior Counsel, underscored the critical role that teachers play in shaping the nation’s future, noting that strong leadership within KNUT is essential in safeguarding the welfare, dignity, and professional growth of educators. He emphasized that under Oyuu’s stewardship, KNUT has remained a vital voice in advocating for teachers’ rights, improved working conditions, and meaningful engagement with government stakeholders.

Hon. Amollo further observed that securing re-election unopposed is no small feat in a dynamic and often competitive labor movement environment. According to him, it speaks volumes about Oyuu’s ability to build consensus, foster unity, and champion the collective interests of teachers without division.

“Leadership is ultimately about service, integrity, and the ability to bring people together around a common purpose,” he added. “Your re-election without contest demonstrates that you have not only met these expectations but exceeded them in ways that resonate deeply with your constituents.”

He also commended the KNUT leadership team for their resilience in navigating challenges within the education sector, including policy reforms, labor negotiations, and the evolving demands of the teaching profession. Hon. Amollo expressed confidence that the union will continue to play a constructive role in strengthening Kenya’s education system, particularly at a time when the country is implementing key reforms aimed at improving quality and accessibility.

As a legislator with a keen interest in governance and institutional integrity, Hon. Amollo reiterated the importance of collaboration between policymakers, unions, and other stakeholders to ensure that the education sector remains robust and responsive to the needs of both teachers and learners.

He encouraged Oyuu and his team to build on the progress made during their first term, urging them to remain steadfast in their mission to uplift teachers and defend their rights. He also called on educators across the country to continue supporting KNUT’s leadership in advancing a unified and progressive agenda.

“May your second term be even more impactful, marked by greater achievements, stronger advocacy, and enduring unity within the teaching fraternity,” Hon. Amollo concluded. “The nation looks to you for continued leadership and inspiration as we work together to nurture the next generation.”

The congratulatory message from Hon. Amollo reflects a broader recognition of the central role played by KNUT in Kenya’s education landscape and highlights the importance of stable, visionary leadership in driving positive change. As Collins Oyuu embarks on his second term, expectations remain high that his tenure will further consolidate gains made while opening new pathways for growth, dialogue, and transformation within the sector.
