TENP Wins Multiple Awards at 2026 ASK Eldoret Show
The Eldoret National Polytechnic (TENP) has been recognized for its outstanding performance at the 2026 ASK Eldoret Show, where the institution scooped several prestigious awards in livestock categories and institutional participation.
The annual agricultural exhibition, held in Eldoret, brings together farmers, institutions, researchers, and industry stakeholders from across the region to showcase innovations, best farming practices, and advancements in agriculture and livestock production.
During this year’s show, TENP distinguished itself by winning Best Champion Ayrshire, Reserve Champion Ayrshire Cow, and Best Boar, highlighting the institution’s excellence in livestock breeding and management. The awards reflect the dedication of the institution’s farm team and its commitment to promoting practical agricultural training among students.
In addition to the livestock accolades, TENP was also honored as the Best Tertiary Level Institution other than University, recognizing its strong contribution to technical and vocational education and its active role in promoting agricultural skills development.
The awards were presented by the Governor of Uasin Gishu County, Jonathan Chelilim, during the official ceremony at the showgrounds. The governor commended participating institutions for supporting agricultural development and empowering young people with practical skills that contribute to food security and economic growth.
TENP Chief Principal Charles Koech received the awards on behalf of the institution. He praised the staff and students for their teamwork, dedication, and commitment that led to the impressive performance at the show.
“This achievement reflects the hard work and collaboration of our staff and students who continue to demonstrate excellence in agriculture and livestock production,” he noted, adding that the institution will continue investing in practical training and research to strengthen its programs.
Several members of the institution’s leadership and technical team were present during the award presentation. Among them were TVET Fairs Coordinator Danol Rotich, Research and Development Coordinator Fred Agengo, and Farm Manager Susan Seron, who have played a key role in organizing the institution’s participation at the show and managing its agricultural projects.
Also in attendance were Assistant Dean Sherry Christabel, along with staff members Caroline Kirorei and Dorcas Sambu, who joined other representatives of the institution in celebrating the achievement.
The recognition further reinforces TENP’s growing reputation as a center of excellence in technical and vocational education, particularly in the field of agriculture. Through its training programs and farm activities, the institution continues to equip students with practical knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to support the agricultural sector.
The Agricultural Society of Kenya shows are among the most important agricultural exhibitions in the country, providing a platform for learning, networking, and showcasing innovations that drive agricultural growth. TENP’s success at this year’s Eldoret show reflects the institution’s commitment to innovation, quality training, and community engagement in advancing agriculture in the region.
