Tengecha Girls Celebrates Strong Exam Results, Leaders Promise Improved Security
Students, teachers and education stakeholders at Tengecha Girls Secondary School gathered on Sunday to celebrate impressive national examination results during a thanksgiving ceremony, as leaders pledged support to further improve learning conditions.
Speaking at the event, Aaron Cheruiyot, the Senator for Kericho County, announced that the government would facilitate the construction of a perimeter wall around the Tengecha Schools Complex to enhance security for learners.
Cheruiyot said the project would be undertaken by the Kenya Defence Contractors and is part of the government’s broader plan to strengthen school infrastructure and improve education standards across the country.
According to the senator, the wall would help protect the school from outside interference and possible encroachment. He noted that such measures were necessary following student unrest experienced in 2025, adding that improved security would allow learners to focus fully on their studies.
The lawmaker also emphasized that improving education outcomes requires collaboration among all stakeholders, including parents, teachers, and government institutions. He pointed out that the national government has already taken steps to reduce the teacher-student ratio by employing more than 100,000 teachers across the country.
Cheruiyot encouraged the students to remain disciplined and committed to their studies, noting that success in life requires dedication and strong moral values.
Also present at the event was Kibet Komingoi, the Member of Parliament for Bureti Constituency, who congratulated the school for its strong performance in the national examinations. He said the results reflected the collective effort of teachers, students, and parents.
Komingoi further urged principals of day secondary schools to release Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education certificates to former students who may still have outstanding school fees, saying the documents are important for their future education and employment opportunities.
Education officials revealed that Bureti Sub-County sent 2,558 students to public universities out of 8,103 candidates in Kericho County. The county also recorded 66 students who scored an A plain, with three of them coming from Tengecha Girls Secondary School.
School leaders expressed optimism that with continued support from the government and the community, the institution would achieve even better academic results in the coming years.
