PS NJOGU BRIEFS LAWMAKERS ON WELFARE OF KENYANS AMID MIDDLE EAST TURMOIL

The Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, Roseline Njogu, has briefed Members of Parliament on the government’s ongoing efforts to safeguard Kenyans affected by the escalating turmoil in the Middle East.

Appearing before the Diaspora and Migrant Workers Committee of the National Assembly, PS Njogu outlined comprehensive measures being implemented to protect Kenyan nationals in the affected region. The committee session was chaired by Simon King'ara, who stood in for Lydia Haika.

PS Njogu reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of every Kenyan abroad, emphasising that no citizen will be left behind. She urged Kenyans in affected areas to register through the official evacuation survey platform and to utilise the designated emergency hotlines provided by the State Department.

Kenyan embassies and consulates across the region, she noted, are maintaining constant communication with local authorities and Kenyan nationals. Emergency response systems remain fully operational as part of a coordinated, multi-agency strategy.

The State Department for Diaspora Affairs continues to closely monitor developments to ensure timely intervention where necessary.

PS Njogu was accompanied by Ambassador Hellen Gichuhi, Secretary for Diaspora Welfare and Partnerships, and Ambassador Isaiya Kabira, Secretary for Diaspora Investments, Skills and Entrepreneurship.

The briefing underscores Kenya’s proactive diplomatic engagement and firm commitment to protecting its citizens beyond its borders.
