Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi Mourns Johanna Ngeno
Oscar Sudi has paid a heartfelt tribute to his longtime friend and colleague, Johanna Ngeno, following his tragic death in a helicopter crash that also claimed the lives of five others.
Speaking with deep emotion, the Kapseret lawmaker recalled August 17, 2018, as a day that remains vividly etched in his memory — the day he accompanied Ngeno for his engagement ceremony.
“That morning, I took my brother to find a wife. I remember every laugh we shared, every story, every dream we spoke about,” Sudi said. “We were more than friends — we were family.”
Sudi recounted how he proudly wore a Maasai shuka during the engagement ceremony, encouraging Ngeno to take the bold step into marriage. He described the late MP as a passionate and dedicated leader who tirelessly served the people of Emurua Dikir.
“His passion for politics and his unwavering dedication to his constituents were inspiring. We travelled together, laughed together, and even disagreed at times — but our bond only grew stronger,” he said.
The news of Ngeno’s passing, Sudi noted, left him shattered.
“The pain is unbearable. The loss is unimaginable. Kenya has lost a committed leader, and I have lost a brother,” he added.
The bodies of the deceased were received at the morgue of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where family members, friends, and supporters gathered in grief to pay their last respects.
Sudi extended his condolences not only to Ngeno’s family but also to the families of the five others who perished in the crash.
“Our hearts go out to all the families affected by this tragedy. May their loved ones find strength and comfort during this incredibly difficult time,” he said.
He concluded by affirming that Ngeno’s legacy of service and dedication would endure.
“Rest in peace, my friend. You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will live on in the hearts of the people you served.”
