Governor Jonathan Bii Signs Performance Contract to Steer Eldoret Toward Sustainable Growth

Eldoret continues to solidify its place as a fast-rising urban center and the economic heartbeat of the North Rift region, following the signing of a landmark Appraisal Performance Contract between the County Government of Uasin Gishu County and the newly inaugurated Eldoret City Board.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Governor Jonathan Bii emphasized that the city’s rapid growth demands focused leadership, structured planning, and accountable governance to meet the expectations of residents and investors alike.

“Eldoret is a city of great promise. Its expanding opportunities require deliberate action, measurable targets, and a leadership framework that ensures service delivery is not only efficient but transparent and responsive,” said Governor Bii.

The Appraisal Performance Contract sets clear performance indicators for the City Board, outlining targets aimed at strengthening service delivery, improving infrastructure management, enhancing revenue collection systems, and promoting transparency in public administration.

Governor Bii noted that the agreement marks a significant milestone in operationalizing Eldoret’s city status and ensuring that governance structures match its growing economic profile.

“We are firmly positioning Eldoret for sustainable growth. Through results-driven governance and structured leadership, we will build a city that works for its people and secures lasting prosperity for generations to come,” he added.

The newly inaugurated City Board pledged to uphold the standards set out in the contract, committing to regular performance reviews and accountability mechanisms that will keep development projects on track.

Eldoret, which has experienced rapid urban expansion in recent years, continues to attract investment in trade, education, agriculture, and real estate. County officials expressed confidence that the performance contract framework will accelerate service improvements and enhance the city’s competitiveness on both national and regional fronts.
