Githunguri Constituency Preference Rating: Mizani Africa Survey Shows Gathoni Wamuchomba in Commanding Lead
Incumbent Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has taken an early lead in the Githunguri parliamentary race, according to the latest opinion poll released by Mizani Africa.
The survey places Wamuchomba at 43.9 percent voter preference, giving her a wide margin over her ближайших challengers as the constituency gears up for the next general election cycle.
The poll further indicates that the MP enjoys a strong 67.1 percent performance approval rating, suggesting that much of her support is anchored in voter satisfaction with her current term in office. Analysts say the alignment between approval ratings and voter preference signals a stable support base that could prove decisive if the election were held today.
Former Githunguri MP Gabriel Kago Mukuha ranks second with 18.6 percent support, trailing Wamuchomba by more than 25 percentage points. Other aspirants register single-digit backing, with Njenga Mabati at 9.8 percent, Charles Thiong’o at 6.7 percent, and Peter Kinyanjui at 3.9 percent. A further 2.1 percent of respondents indicated support for other candidates.
Despite the incumbent’s commanding position, the survey notes that 15 percent of voters remain undecided, a bloc that could influence the final outcome depending on campaign dynamics in the coming months.
Political observers note that while early polls provide a snapshot of voter sentiment, shifts in alliances, campaign messaging, and voter turnout efforts could reshape the race before ballots are cast.
For now, however, the data suggests that Wamuchomba enters the next phase of the contest with significant momentum and a clear advantage over her rivals.
