Final Journey Set for MP Johana Ng’eno as State, Narok County Plan Joint Burial Rites

The final journey for Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng'eno has been scheduled for Friday, March 6, 2026, following consultations between Parliament, the bereaved families and the Office of the President.

The Parliamentary Funeral Ad Hoc Committee, chaired by Tinderet MP Julius Melly, announced that Hon. Ng’eno will be laid to rest alongside three other victims — Mr. Carlos Keter, Mr. Amos Rotich and Mr. Wycliffe Rono — on the same day.

“Upon consultation with the families of the late Hon. Ng’eno and four others, it is agreed that the late Hon. Johana Ng’eno and three others will be laid to rest on Friday, March 6, 2026, while the other body will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 7, 2026,” Hon. Melly said.

Mr. Nicholas Kosgei will be buried a day later, on Saturday, March 7. Meanwhile, the family of Captain George Were, who was also among the victims, will announce his burial date once his children arrive from abroad.

The Committee further announced that a joint church service for all the victims will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Africa Gospel Church (AGC) in Karen, Nairobi.

On Thursday, March 5, the bodies of the five victims will be airlifted to Emurua Dikirr, where another joint requiem mass will be conducted at a local school. Thereafter, the remains of the four victims scheduled for Friday’s burial will be taken to their respective homes for final rites in accordance with family traditions.

Hon. Melly said Parliament, the Narok County Government and the Office of the President will jointly meet the funeral expenses to ease the burden on the bereaved families.

“Parliament together with the County Government of Narok and the Office of the President will take charge of funeral expenses to alleviate the burden on the bereaved families and grant them time to mourn their loved ones,” he said.

Members of the Ad Hoc Parliamentary Planning Committee include Hon. Rindikiri Mugambi (Vice Chairperson), Sen. David Wafula Wakoli, Wakili Hillary Sigei, Hon. Julius Sunkuli, Hon. Oscar Sudi, Hon. Brighton Yegon, Hon. Mark Nyamita, Hon. Gathoni Wamuchomba, Hon. Kitilai Ole Ntutu, Hon. Rebecca Tonkei, Hon. Kakai Bissau, Hon. Victor Koech, Hon. Joseph Cherorot and Sen. Oketch Eddy Gicheru.

The joint arrangements reflect the national significance attached to the loss and the collective effort to accord the victims a dignified send-off.
