Voi Pool Affordable Housing Project: Transforming Urban Living in Taita Taveta

The Voi Pool Affordable Housing Project in Voi Constituency, Taita Taveta County, is a flagship urban development initiative under Kenya’s Affordable Housing Programme (AHP), which kicked off in January 2025.

The development features G+11 residential blocks delivering 458 housing units, including studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. Units are structured across social, affordable, and market-price categories, ensuring that the housing needs of diverse income groups are addressed.

Beyond residential accommodation, the estate integrates essential social and commercial amenities. Block A hosts 22 retail shops, while shared facilities include a kindergarten, a water treatment plant, a social hall, a basketball court, wide internal driveways, lifts, backup generators, and a drilled water system, ensuring convenience, safety, and sustainability for residents.

The project also emphasizes employment and skills development, with approximately 230 workers on site, including 10 interns and 5 attaches, providing young professionals with practical experience in construction and urban development.

Housing Principal Secretary Charles Hinga has been instrumental in driving this initiative, ensuring that the project meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and inclusivity. His leadership underscores the government’s commitment to providing affordable, high-quality housing while generating employment and skills opportunities for Kenyans.
