Sifuna Urges New LSK Leadership to Uphold Justice, Accountability

 

 ODM Secretary‑General Edwin Sifuna has emphasized the importance of the ongoing Lawyers’ elections, urging the incoming leadership of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) to continue defending the rule of law and protecting Kenyans from impunity.

Speaking after casting his vote this morning, Sifuna praised the outgoing LSK leadership, led by Faith Odhiambo, for their unwavering commitment to justice over the past two years.

“Elections matter,” Sifuna said. “The Law Society of Kenya has been one of the most consequential organizations in the fight against impunity and abuse of power. Under Faith Odhiambo and her team, the society stood firm on the side of the Constitution.”

Sifuna expressed hope that the new team elected today would build on these achievements. “I have voted for a new team this morning, hoping and praying that they will continue the good work that Faith Odhiambo and her colleagues have been doing,” he added.

He also urged all stakeholders to respect the election results and continue working collaboratively to safeguard Kenya’s legal institutions and human rights. “This is not a partisan issue. It is about sustaining institutions that defend every Kenyan. The future of our nation depends on strong, independent organizations willing to hold power to account,” Sifuna concluded.
