Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI) has officially opened registration for its highly anticipated Skills Competition and Innovation Competition, which will form part of the institution’s 5th Innovation Week scheduled to take place from 25th to 27th February 2026 at the RVTTI main campus.

This year’s Innovation Week will be held under the theme:
“Transformative Innovations to Commercialisation and Economic Sustainability.”

The event is expected to bring together trainees, trainers, industry partners, and stakeholders to celebrate technical excellence, creativity, and forward-thinking solutions aimed at driving economic growth.

🏆 Skills Competition

The Skills Competition will provide trainees with a platform to demonstrate technical mastery in their respective fields. Participants will compete within their skill categories, showcasing hands-on expertise and professional competence.

The best trainee in each skill category will receive a cash award of Ksh 2,000, recognizing outstanding performance and dedication.

Organizers note that the competition is designed to sharpen practical skills, boost confidence, and prepare trainees for industry standards.

💡 Innovation Competition

A major highlight of the Innovation Week will be the Innovation Competition, which aims to identify and reward groundbreaking ideas and projects with real-world impact.

Participants are encouraged to present innovations that can be commercialized and contribute to economic sustainability, in line with this year’s theme.

Cash prizes for the top innovators include:

  • 🥇 Best Innovation – Ksh 20,000

  • 🥈 Second Place – Ksh 15,000

  • 🥉 Third Place – Ksh 10,000

The competition reflects RVTTI’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial thinking and supporting trainees in transforming ideas into viable enterprises.

A Platform for Growth and Recognition

The 5th Innovation Week will not only reward excellence but also provide networking opportunities, exposure to industry stakeholders, and a chance for trainees to gain recognition beyond the institution.

According to the organizing committee, “Innovation is no longer optional — it is essential for economic sustainability. We want our trainees to think beyond the classroom and develop solutions that can thrive in the marketplace.”
