The Ministry of Health, in partnership with the Social Health Authority (SHA), will on Friday, February 27, 2026, launch 1,000 new SHA beneficiaries during a free medical camp to be held at Chepkigen Ground in Ziwa.
The event, scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m., is part of ongoing efforts to expand access to universal health coverage and bring essential medical services closer to communities.
Soy Member of Parliament Hon. David Kiplagat will host the event, while the Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni Muriuki, CBS, will attend as the chief guest.
Organizers say the outreach initiative aims to register and onboard 1,000 residents onto the Social Health Authority scheme while offering free medical consultations and diagnostic services.
Residents attending the camp will benefit from a wide range of services, including internal medicine consultations, ophthalmology screening, dental services such as oral examinations and dental X-rays, and general surgeon consultations. Orthopedic consultations will also be available.
In addition, radiology services, including X-ray and ultrasound examinations, will be offered to support early diagnosis and treatment of various health conditions.
The medical camp underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare and ensuring that more Kenyans access affordable and quality health services under the universal health coverage agenda.
Local leaders have encouraged residents of Ziwa and surrounding areas to turn out in large numbers to take advantage of the free services and to enroll in the Social Health Authority program.
The initiative is themed “Mbele iko sawa na DK,” signaling continued collaboration between national and local leadership in advancing community health and development.
