Meru Woman Representative, Hon. Karambu Kailemia, has welcomed the ongoing multi-billion shilling development projects across Meru County, aimed at driving grassroots socio-economic growth under the Kenya Kwanza Administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
Key strategic projects include:
Upgrading Meru County Hospital into a national referral facility at a cost of Ksh 1 billion.
Last-mile electricity connectivity projects connecting 30,000 new households across all constituencies.
Construction of 17 modern markets and affordable housing projects, creating thousands of jobs and boosting local income.
The Nithi Bridge construction, set to cost Ksh 7 billion, to enhance road safety along the busy Nairobi–Embu–Chuka–Chogoria–Meru corridor.
A Ksh 3 billion bypass in Meru Town to ease congestion, facilitate seamless traffic flow, and boost economic activities.
The projects were highlighted during a consultative engagement at State House, Nairobi, where President William Ruto met Meru County leaders, including Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia, Deputy Governor Linda Kiome, Senator Kathuri Murungi, 11 MPs, and 67 MCAs, to review the county’s priority development needs.
Hon. Karambu Kailemia, consistently recognized as the best woman representative for her prudence and wisdom in leadership, lauded the government’s commitment to transformative development and emphasized the projects’ potential to improve livelihoods and stimulate inclusive growth across the county.
