Meru Woman Rep Empowers 1,500 Residents in Nyaki-West Ward

Over 1,500 residents of Nyaki-West Ward in Meru County are set to benefit from an empowerment programme spearheaded by Meru Woman Representative Karambu Kailemia.

The initiative, held in the ward on [day], focused on boosting community livelihoods through support for income-generating activities. Hon. Kailemia donated equipment valued at Sh1 million and issued cheques amounting to Sh550,000 to various community groups, with the aim of strengthening local entrepreneurship and improving household incomes.

Speaking during the event, the Woman Representative underscored the need to empower communities not only with financial support but also with practical tools and skills that promote self-reliance.

“Our goal is to equip our people with the resources they need to create sustainable livelihoods. When communities are empowered economically, they are better positioned to drive their own development,” she said.

Local leaders and beneficiaries welcomed the initiative, terming it timely and impactful, especially in supporting small-scale businesses and youth and women groups. Many noted that the equipment and funds would help expand their ventures, create jobs, and improve living standards within the ward.

The programme forms part of Hon. Kailemia’s broader agenda to enhance economic empowerment across Meru County through targeted community-based interventions.
