UDA, ODM Leaders Push for Early Talks Ahead of 2027 Polls

Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot has reaffirmed that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) remains committed to engaging like-minded political parties as part of efforts to promote national unity and political stability.

Cheruiyot said UDA would not be distracted from pursuing political arrangements that strengthen cohesion, adding that dialogue across party lines is essential to sustaining the Broad-Based Government’s inclusive agenda.

He expressed confidence that the Nyanza region would back President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election, citing ongoing development projects and what he described as a more inclusive approach to governance under the current administration.

“As leaders, we must focus on building bridges and ensuring that development reaches every part of the country,” Cheruiyot said, noting that unity-driven politics would resonate with voters across traditional political strongholds.

Calls for early pre-election engagement between UDA and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have also gained momentum in Parliament. Leaders in both the National Assembly and the Senate argue that early talks could help shape a stable political alliance ahead of the 2027 polls.

National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed and Cheruiyot said proactive dialogue between the two parties would provide a framework for cooperation and reduce political uncertainty as the country moves closer to the next election cycle.

The leaders maintained that structured engagement would allow parties to align on shared national priorities, strengthen stability, and lay the groundwork for a government capable of delivering on its development agenda beyond 2027.
