ODM Women Representative Calls for Structured Party Engagement Ahead of 2027 Elections
Kisumu County Women Representative and Deputy Organizing Secretary of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has called on party members to follow the constitutional structures of the party as it prepares for the 2027 General Election.
Speaking on the importance of party unity and adherence to the ODM Constitution, the lawmaker emphasized that while calls for the National Delegates Conference (NDC) have been circulating, all party organs must first fulfill their roles in the decision-making process.
“ODM is a party of the people, for the people. Our journey forward must be guided by the very rules we set for ourselves,” she said.
She explained that the recent Central Management Committee (CMC) meeting in Vipingo, Kilifi County, was a critical first step in policy formulation and discussions on planning for the 2027 elections, including the committee’s endorsement of cooperation talks with Kenya Kwanza. However, she stressed that the next steps must occur at the National Executive Committee (NEC) level.
The Women Representative highlighted that the NEC, chaired by Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, is the executive organ responsible for supervising the party’s daily operations and carrying out decisions of higher bodies. Decisions from the NEC then inform the National Governing Council (NGC), which oversees broader implementation across the country, before finally reaching the NDC – the supreme organ of ODM empowered to determine party policy, ratify the manifesto, and nominate the presidential candidate.
She urged party members to avoid informal wrangles and adhere to the constitutional processes to build a resilient, united, and focused ODM.
“Mbele Pamoja! Let us follow the Constitution to the letter – from the NEC to the NGC, and finally to the NDC – to secure our future,” she concluded.
