Nyoro Reduces Day School Fees to Ksh 500 Per Term in Kiharu

Kiharu Member of Parliament Hon. Ndindi Nyoro has announced a major boost to education access after reducing day secondary school fees to Ksh 500 per term under the Kiharu Masomo Bora Program – 2026 Edition.

The announcement was made during the official launch of the program held at Maragi Primary School Grounds, following earlier launches at Gaturi Grounds, Kahuhia Secondary School Grounds, and Kahuro Secondary School Grounds. The initiative targets over 12,000 learners across all 65 day secondary schools in Kiharu Constituency.

Under the program, learners will now pay only Ksh 500 per term starting Term One, 2026, significantly easing the financial burden on parents and guardians. In addition, lunch will be provided in school from Monday to Saturday, with chapati served every last Friday of the month to support learner welfare and improve school attendance.

The program is open to all Kenyan students enrolled in day secondary schools within Kiharu, especially those who can secure accommodation within the constituency. Funding for revision materials and infrastructural development, including science laboratories, will be provided through the Kiharu NG-CDF.

Speaking during the launch, Nyoro emphasized that education remains the cornerstone of sustainable development, noting that the initiative is aimed at improving retention, performance, and equity in learning.

He thanked leaders and stakeholders who attended the launch, including Hon. Charles Machigo, Hon. Liz Mbugua, Hon. Esther Irungu, Hon. Wachiku, parents, learners, Mama Sacco, and residents of Kiharu for their continued support.

The Kiharu Masomo Bora Program is expected to significantly transform education outcomes in the constituency and position Kiharu as a model for affordable and inclusive public education in Kenya.
