Nyatike Gets Major Infrastructure Boost as Cabinet Secretaries Launch Key Road Projects

Nyatike Constituency is set for a major infrastructure upgrade following the launch of key road and transport projects by Cabinet Secretaries Davis Chirchir (Roads and Transport) and John Mbadi (National Treasury and Economic Planning).

The Cabinet Secretaries were hosted by Nyatike MP Tom Odege during the official launch of the tarmacking of the Agolomuok–Otati–Kogore Road in Nyatike West Sub-County, Migori County. The project is expected to improve mobility, spur local trade, and enhance access to essential services for residents.

Speaking at the event, Odege said the road works form part of a broader infrastructure development agenda under the broad-based government framework. He added that additional projects are scheduled to begin in the coming days following the closure of tenders in late 2025.

Among the planned projects is the Masara–Muhuru Bay (B1) Road, which will link the region to the Western Highway project and strengthen connectivity across southern Migori.

The constituency is also set to benefit from the ongoing construction of the Muhuru Bay Pier, which commenced earlier this week. The project includes a 50-metre jetty and refrigeration units designed to revive the fishing industry and reduce post-harvest losses.

The Cabinet Secretaries reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the Agolomuok–Sori–Masara Road, a 42-kilometre stretch that is currently 75 percent complete.

The launch event was attended by National Assembly Budget Committee Chairperson Samuel Atandi, Awendo MP Walter Owino, Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang’, Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, and members of the Homa Bay and Migori County Assemblies, among other leaders.
