Marakwet West Member of Parliament Timothy Kipchumba Toroitich has stepped in to support a needy but bright student from Rorok Village in Kapsowar Ward, pledging a full scholarship to see him through senior school.

The beneficiary, Bernard Kibet Tanui, comes from a humble background but has demonstrated exceptional academic potential. According to the MP, Bernard’s story came to his attention through concerned members of the community, prompting him to personally reach out to the family.

“I have talked to the concerned family and will ensure that Bernard gets a full scholarship until he completes senior school,” Toroitich said, reaffirming his commitment to education as a key pillar of social transformation.

While emphasizing the power of education to change lives, the legislator echoed the words of the late South African leader Nelson Mandela, noting that education remains “the great engine of personal development,” capable of lifting children from modest backgrounds to positions of leadership and influence.

Local residents welcomed the move, terming it a timely intervention that will not only secure Bernard’s future but also inspire other learners in the region to pursue their education with determination despite economic challenges.

The MP concluded by giving thanks for the opportunity to make a difference, saying, “To God be the glory,” as he reiterated his dedication to supporting education and nurturing talent across Marakwet West.
