Mang’u High School Celebrates 100 Years of Academic Excellence
Mang’u High School, one of Kenya’s most prestigious educational institutions, celebrated its centenary this week, marking 100 years of academic excellence, discipline, and leadership.
The celebrations were attended by the Cabinet Secretary for Education, Julius Migos Ogamba, who represented His Excellency the President, Dr. William Samoei Ruto. In his remarks, CS Ogamba highlighted the pivotal role of faith-based organizations in providing quality, value-driven education long before the introduction of the Competency-Based Education framework.
“Faith-based institutions like Mang’u High School have contributed immensely to nation-building by nurturing leaders who excel across social, economic, and political spheres,” said CS Ogamba.
Founded in 1925 by the Holy Ghost Fathers, Mang’u High School has become a symbol of holistic education in Kenya and the wider region. Over the decades, the school has produced generations of distinguished alumni who have made lasting contributions to the country’s development.
The centenary celebrations were also graced by the Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi, His Grace the Most Reverend Philip Anyolo, alongside distinguished alumni and other notable dignitaries.
The event served not only as a commemoration of the school’s rich history but also as a reflection on its enduring legacy in shaping Kenya’s future leaders.
