Kapseret Installs High-Mast Lighting Tower at Lemook to Boost Security and Business
Lemook Centre in Simat/Kapseret Ward has received a major boost following the installation of a high-mast lighting tower, a project aimed at enhancing security, promoting economic activity, and improving the overall quality of life for residents.
Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Kipchumba Sudi said the lighting tower is part of a broader, deliberate effort by his office and the county leadership to make trading centres safer and more vibrant.
“The installation of this high-mast lighting tower at Lemook Centre is not accidental. It is part of our deliberate efforts to enhance security, extend business hours, and create a safe, vibrant environment for our people,” said Sudi.
The MP noted that inadequate lighting has for years been a major challenge in many trading centres, often limiting business operations to daylight hours and exposing residents to insecurity at night. With the new lighting system in place, traders are expected to operate for longer hours, boosting incomes and stimulating local economic growth.
Residents welcomed the development, saying the well-lit centre will deter criminal activities while improving movement at night for shoppers, boda boda operators, and pedestrians. Youth and women traders, in particular, are expected to benefit from the safer environment created by the project.
Mr. Sudi reaffirmed his commitment to rolling out similar projects across Kapseret Constituency, noting that development must be felt at the grassroots. He emphasized that infrastructure projects such as lighting, roads, and water are key pillars in transforming local economies.
“We will continue investing in projects that directly impact the lives of our people. Security and economic empowerment go hand in hand, and we are determined to ensure Kapseret remains safe and prosperous,” he added.
