Government Reaffirms Commitment to Grade 10 Transition and Revival of St. Agatha Mokwo Girls School

The government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a smooth transition of all Grade 10 learners to senior school, alongside continued investment in learning infrastructure across the country.

Speaking during a community engagement at St. Agatha Mokwo Girls Secondary School in Keiyo South, Principal Secretary for the National Treasury Dr. Chris Kiptoo said the government is prioritising education as a key pillar of national development and economic transformation.

St. Agatha Mokwo Girls Secondary School, once a top-performing institution that produced high-achieving students who have gone on to serve the country in various capacities, has experienced a decline in academic performance over the years. Leaders at the event said renewed collaboration between the government, school management, and the local community is key to restoring the school’s former status.

Dr. Kiptoo was accompanied by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, and other national and local leaders, who joined students, teachers, parents, and residents in a solidarity walk aimed at restoring confidence and hope in the institution.

The leaders emphasized that improving school infrastructure, enhancing learner welfare, and strengthening community support systems are central to the government’s education agenda, particularly under the Competency-Based Curriculum transition framework.

In addition to education-focused interventions, the government also implemented community empowerment initiatives during the event through the Kaptagat Integrated Conservation Programme. Beneficiaries received improved dairy cows, Dorper sheep, and Super Napier animal feed to support sustainable livelihoods and reduce pressure on surrounding forest ecosystems.

Officials noted that the conservation programme is designed to promote environmental sustainability while improving household incomes and food security, enabling families to better support education at the community level.

Under the leadership of President William Samoei Ruto, the government continues to pursue inclusive development policies aimed at empowering communities, strengthening institutions, and driving long-term economic transformation.

Leaders at the event expressed optimism that the combined focus on education, environmental conservation, and economic empowerment will help St. Agatha Mokwo Girls Secondary School regain its academic excellence while contributing to broader regional development in Keiyo South.
